Travel grants are awarded every two months. Grants are available for purposes such as concerts and tours, delegation participation, Showcase festivals and premieres of works by composers.
There is no requirement for a minimum number of performances; the allocation committee evaluates the value and scope of each project in its entirety and in relation to the fund's objectives.
Applications can cover up to 8 individuals at a time, with a maximum grant of 600,000 ISK for projects within Europe and 800,000 ISK for projects outside Europe.There is no limit on the number of travel grants an applicant can receive within a one-year period.
Grants are not awarded for recording sessions abroad.
The travel grant allocation committee evaluates applications based on the department's objectives and the general assessment criteria of The Music Fund:
40% – The Project: The committee assesses whether the project is well-defined, engaging, and executed with professionalism and ambition.
20% – Applicant and Participants: The committee evaluates the likelihood of the applicant and participants achieving their stated goals, based on their professional and artistic background.
40% – Budget: The committee assesses whether the budget is realistic and clearly demonstrates the project's financial need.
