Ragga Gröndal is heading to Nordic Folk Alliance 2026

18 February 2026

The beloved singer Ragga Gröndal will represent Iceland at the Nordic Folk Alliance festival this April.

For years, Ragnheiður has worked systematically with the Icelandic folk heritage, reimagining it in a fresh and personal style. She has released two folk albums, Þjóðlög (2006) and Tregagás (2009), playing an active role in the revival of Icelandic singing traditions. Alongside this, she has released original music heavily influenced by folk traditions, including Töfrabörn (2019), which was nominated for the Icelandic Music Awards.

She is currently preparing to release a new album of folk songs and rímur and will introduce it, along with older material, at the Nordic Folk Alliance. Joining her on stage will be guitarist Guðmundur Pétursson.
